Shargel with pumpkin oil and pumpkin seeds

Procedure:

  1. Whisk the eggs with the sugar and vanilla sugar. Add the pumpkin seed oil and sour cream or yoghurt and stir to combine.
  2. Dodamo še presejano moko s pecilnim praškom in nasekljana bučna semena. Mešamo ravno toliko, da je zmes enakomerna.
  3. Zmes zlijemo v pekač, ki ga prej premažemo z maslom in posujemo z moko. Šarkelj pečemo 50 minut na 190° C.
  4. Pred postrežbo lahko šarkelj okrasimo s stepeno smetano in bučnimi semeni ali bučnim čipsom.

Štajersko Prekmursko Pumpkin Oil with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) is an edible unrefined oil produced by pressing roasted pumpkin seeds, which are extracted from pumpkins (Cucurbita pepo) and processed in the region of Štajerska and Prekmurje. It is dark green to red in colour, with a characteristic aromatic smell and taste.
